When guys start learning how to talk to women, they have one burning question that keeps them up at night:

"WHAT SHOULD I SAY TO A GIRL WHEN I GO UP TO HER??"

This consumes men. They search for pickup lines on the internet … they practice jokes … and they all suck.

Sometimes they even crash and burn, as I did.

Do you know what advice these guys get?

"Dude, it doesn't matter. Just go up and say anything. Just be confident."

That is technically true … but also pointless when you're starting out.

What's really happening is that these guys are looking for a magic bullet, something they think is the magical solution to their problems.

Whether it's looking for a magic line, or a magic business idea, we all do it.

The real answer is: "Hey dude. It's OK you don't know what to say when you approach someone. You should definitely learn a few things to say, but ultimately, you'll realize you can actually say anything you want. It's about more than just the words you say. But for now, here are a few funny things to say."

In other words: It's OK if you don't know … but it's not OK to just sit here and whine about your life. Find the damn answer, you lazy miscreant.

We all roll our eyes because we know whiny 23-year-old guys like this, but guess what?

We all do this in other parts of our life. Yes, you too.

I got this interesting Tweet from a reader a while back:

It's OK if you don't know what to do with your life … but the answer is not to sit around and wait.

THE ANSWER IS TO FIND IT!!

Same thing with online business. "I want to start something, but I don't have an idea."

Okay … so find one. Eventually you'll discover that the idea itself isn't as important as how well you execute … but for now, find it!

Yes, there is a process for finding a profitable idea. No, it won't fall down from the heavens if you sit outside and wait to "discover your passion" (vomit).

Look how simple some of these ideas are:

See? Just as someone with a little swagger can go up to anyone and get them interested with the most mundane sentence ("Hi, how are you doing?"), you can take a seemingly ordinary business idea and turn it into something awesome.

By the way, think about IWT, the very material you're reading. Is "personal finance" or "finding a dream job" or "starting a business" a particularly novel idea? Of course not. Yet IWT is read by millions of people and has helped launch tens of thousands of businesses.

The good news is you already have skills, talents, and knowledge people would pay for — even if you haven't realized it yet. (I'll show you how to find them.)

But coming up with a clever idea is not the secret to running a successful business.

Success usually comes from a simple idea executed amazingly well.

Starbucks wasn't the first company to sell coffee, but they focused on an experience people wanted.

We let the excuse of "I don't have an idea!" hold us back, when in reality, we should say, "OK, I don't have an idea … but my next step is to find one."

I didn't come up with the idea of IWT one night, staring out at the beach through a rain-drenched window. I thought of it after getting a $2,000 scholarship check, investing it in the stock market, and immediately losing half of my money.

(And really, is the idea of a personal finance site really that compelling of an idea? I'll answer my own question: hell no!)

You can start an online business training pets, teaching music, helping people learn new sports, and doing thousands of other things.

We ALL have skills other people will pay for, and you might be surprised when you see how many people will pay for the oddball skills and interests you already have.
