Hi Candidate,

This email is for people who are interested in starting a business — and finally building an ASSET that generates income over and over — but don't know where to start.

If that's you, read on.

If you already have a business, you can skip this email. (I have more for you coming this weekend.)

* * *

I've been teaching people how to start businesses for over 10 years. That means I've heard every question and concern a person might have about 3 million times.

One of the most common is, "But Ramit, what's the best online business to start?"

It's a good question.

My dream is to teach this class:

I would teach people how to eat spicy food. Demand for habaneros and Thai chiles would soar. Chefs would rejoice. And The New York Times would put me on A1: "Indian entrepreneur teaches non-Indians the joy of eating spicy food."

Unfortunately, there's just one small problem.

NOBODY CARES!

In fact, I was featured in an article with Mark Cuban and Barbara Corcoran, where we shared the worst career advice we've received.

Mark Cuban was quoted as saying the worst advice he got was "Follow your passions!"

Instead of waiting to find your passion, get good at something. Your passion will follow.

This is almost heretical to the "follow your passion" advice you hear thrown around by commencement speakers, career "experts," and parents.

I love eating spicy food, but nobody's going to pay to take a stupid class on this.

I also love ironing clothes. How many of you want to pay me to iron creases in your sleeves so sharp that they cut your face? Yeah, that's what I thought.

Hence another one of my guiding RULES in life:

Passion isn't everything.

This is actually a relief! You don't have to turn your passion for cake decorating, movie trivia, or spicy-food eating into a business.

You're free to keep loving those passions, then find an actually profitable idea for your business. One that's built on things you enjoy, things you're good at, and things other people actually want.

Even better …

  1. You don't need to wait for lightning to strike. There are actually great business ideas you can COPY.

  2. You can get started today, right now. I created a page all about it here: The BEST online businesses to start

Read that page (5 min) and you'll be much closer to starting your business than you'd be after months of passion hunting.

Thanks for reading!

More coming this weekend,

P.S. Btw, there's a deeper message in "Passion isn't everything" besides how to pick the right business idea...

Many people use passion as an excuse for inaction. They wait for passion to fall from the sky, to strike them like Cupid.

That's not how success works.

You have to FIND a business idea, not wait for it.

While some people are waiting around for "their passion," real entrepreneurs are using a process to find an idea, test it, and build an income.

Which one do you want to be?

Here's that link again if you're ready to get started: The BEST online businesses to start
