Voting is part of a Rich Life

Candidate,

I made Tuesday, November 3rd, an official team holiday at IWT:

For all the founders/CEOs who follow me,
please consider doing this for your team. It's important.

I believe it should be a little easier to make the right decisions in life.

For money, you shouldn't have to become an expert on annuities & asset classes & risk tolerance to do the right thing with your money. How can the average school teacher compete with Wall Street? They can't. But I wanted ordinary people to take control of their money. That's why I wrote the IWT book.

Then I moved onto business. Why should a new business owner have to try every tactic under the sun? Do you really need Twitter, webinars, TikTok, Instagram, email, blogs — all of these?? — to figure out how to earn $5,000/month more? No. That's why I launched our Earnable business program.

Same with fitness. My wife and I started learning this stuff independently, then we did it together. We had to unlearn so many unconscious attitudes about food and fitness. Eventually, I learned how to change from this to this

After we finally learned how food & fitness work, we both said to each other, "Wow...we wish this was just a little easier." So that when you go to the store, you can make the right choices by default. Sure, if you want a special dessert, get it — but why does it have to be so hard to do the right thing? Why do so many of us struggle?

A lot of us beat ourselves up because we try hard and things don't go our way. Sometimes, we're not trying hard enough or we don't have the skills. Sometimes, we're just unlucky. But sometimes, there are external forces that we don't even realize affect us.

For example, how many of us know someone who blames themselves because they can't afford to buy a house? Yet, if you read this article, you'll realize the amazing amount of external forces making it hard for young people to afford housing.

"Trying hard" alone doesn't always magically make things happen. I'm the son of immigrants, a millionaire who believes in personal responsibility while acknowledging deep systemic issues. I pursue profit, but I also know that some of the most valuable things in life will never show up in a spreadsheet or be optimized by efficiency. For that reason — to create a Rich Life for yourself and the people you love — I want to encourage you to vote.

If you live in America, I hope on November 3rd, you vote for your vision of our future. Your finances aren't just a result of your day-to-day choices, they're also embedded in systems that you have the power to change.

I vote. I encourage my team to vote. And I encourage you to vote, too.

And for the assorted people who send me messages saying "stick to personal finance," I used to. But not anymore. Money is political. Pandemics are political. Jobs and businesses are political.

P.S. I talk more about taxes, voter rights, education, and dealing with political trolls on Instagram and Twitter.
