Candidate,

Yesterday I shared my 10 money rules. (Catch up here.)

I've also written a book on personal finance that hit the NYT bestseller list when it was first released...and then again last year when I released the 10th anniversary edition.

My New York Times bestselling book is on Amazon.
(Check your local Amazon site if you're outside the U.S.)

And I named my website I Will Teach You To Be Rich.

2 of those 3 things were good decisions.

Just goes to show you can make some bad decisions and still succeed if you show up every day and keep working on your craft — or choose the right RULES and follow them.

Today, I want to share another RULE of mine that has transformed my life:

Focus on building freedom, not just money.

At a certain point, another $1,000 doesn't mean much. In fact, I know plenty of people who save a lot, planning to use it when they retire...

...but when they turn 60, they lack the skills of knowing what they actually like. They spent 40 years saving, but they don't know how to spend.

So today, I want to share a different perspective on money: freedom. And I don't mean freedom in some generic sense. I mean the 5 specific levels of freedom on the Ladder of Freedom.

I walk through each level in this post, one of my favorite pieces: The Ladder of Freedom.

If you haven't read it, I recommend you check it out.

P.S. Where are you on the Ladder of Freedom? Where would you like to go on the Ladder of Freedom?

Get specific — is it visiting a certain place? Where? Which seat will you fly in on the ride over? Is it never doing your own laundry again? Is it spending 2 hours volunteering every Wednesday evening?

Send me an email and let me know. (I read every one.)
