2 Must Read Books That Will Make You a Better Investor

Two books recently came out that each will make you a better investor.

Two books recently came out that are must-reads for anyone wanting to be a better investor.

My first recommendation is The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel. Morgan is one of the best finance writers today and it seems like everything he writes is worth setting aside time to read. His first book is no exception.

While most finance books focus on the technical or mathematics behind investing, Morgan uses a series of short stories that highlight the soft skills that are arguably more important to achieving financial success. This is a relatively short read that anyone will enjoy and benefit from.

My second recommendation is The Incredible Shrinking Alpha by Andrew Berkin and Larry Swedroe. The first edition has been my go-to recommendation for anyone looking to understand why actively managed investments are likely to fail. The second edition came out a few weeks ago and did not disappoint.

The authors clearly and succinctly describe why the pursuit of market-beating returns is unlikely to help you achieve your goals and offer strategies to improve your likelihood of success. While this book is more technical than my first recommendation, anyone that naturally enjoys the nuts and bolts of investing will find this to be highly informative.

The 5 Finance Books That Influenced My System For Building Wealth
When I wrote Making Money Simple, my goal was to provide a blueprint for turning career success into financial success. Shortly after my book's release, The Wall Street Journal asked me to share some of my personal finance books and how they influenced the way I think about money. The original WSJ version is behind a paywall, but a free version is on my blog.

10 Books To Make You a Better Investor Here is a list of books I compiled for Forbes a few years back. I stand by all of these recommendations, but I'm thinking of publishing a new list that covers more topic areas within money and investing.

The Story of Writing My First Book Writing a book is the hardest thing I've ever done in my career. Here's a behind-the-scenes look of my experience.
