Candidate,
I want to show you 3 haunting articles:
Article #1: Over half of U.S. employees are looking for a new job and 68% of workers say they're overqualified for the job they have.
Article #2: "More than 40 million people — the equivalent of one out of every four American workers — have filed for unemployment benefits since the coronavirus pandemic grabbed hold in mid-March."
Article #3: There's LOTS of advice out there about finding a job during a pandemic. Here, the L.A. Times offers some advice to job seekers, but they focus on all the wrong things.
It's tempting to think that finding ANY job, let alone your Dream Job, is hopeless in today's economic climate, but I believe that there are still tons of opportunities — if you take the right approach and work hard. And yes, with a little luck.
Landing your Dream Job is one of the most powerful ways to live a Rich Life (and a core part of your Tripod of Stability).
But this doesn't just happen by accident. You don't just get a Dream job dropped into your lap.
IT TAKES PROACTIVE WORK.
Person 1: Dreams about getting paid more, getting a prestigious job with tons of perks, being able to take his friends out for rounds of drinks without worrying if he can afford it. Does nothing about it except dream. 10 years later, doing the same work without much of a promotion. Thinks "that's just the way it is."
Person 2: Dreams about getting paid more, is unapologetic about wanting to advance in her career. Decides to learn how the game is played at the highest levels. Stops with the negative self-talk ("It's all about who you know, not what you know" + "I could never get that job because I don't have the right experience") and decides to master the SKILL of finding a Dream Job. Six months later, gets her Dream Job, gets a $7,800 raise, and is on track for another promotion in 12 months.
Which one will you be?
How to find your Dream Job
It's easy to fantasize about what we want and hope one day the stars align and our Dream Job falls into our lap. But beware of being Person #1, the dreamer.
Tomorrow, I'm going to open up my Dream Job Suite course that'll show you a better strategy. Here's what we'll cover:
1) Go beyond the life-sapping 9-5 to find a job you LOVE
Forget scouring job boards and firing off hundreds of resumes into the "Black Hole of Doom." That strategy just doesn't work. Especially right now. And it's not what top employers want you to do. Hiring managers are desperate to find people like you, but you have to approach them in the right way.
And this works. Even if you lack experience, didn't go to the "right school," or have no idea what your Dream Job is.
2) Get the pay, perks, and respect you deserve
Most people just take whatever salary and perks their company offers. They miss out on tens of thousands of dollars a year, weeks of vacation, and even the chance to schedule their own hours, because they don't know how to ask for more.
I'm going to teach you how to get every penny, benefit, and perk you deserve. Including word-for-word scripts.
No BS, no placating messages, no kumbaya. Just the truth about what works.
