Candidate,
How many times have you wondered if you're doing the right thing to grow your business to the next level?
- Should you be pursuing more traffic?
- Should you be posting on Instagram?
- Should you be building new products?
And if you're building a new product — the things that generate revenue for you! — are you creating the right product at the right price for the right people?
Ask yourself this: Are you wasting your time or are you working on something that will grow your business?
Crazy enough, most entrepreneurs' answer to that question is...
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
"Well, let's just try it and find out!"
I call this the guess and pray strategy, and it's how nearly all small businesses operate. I know because I did it for a long time.
The alternative is spending a tiny bit of time upfront to ask the people who will eventually be your buyers. (In our experience, every hour you spend now is worth thousands of dollars.)
But most business owners who try this get tripped up by one or more common obstacles along the way. Maybe you're struggling with one of these, too:
Obstacle #1: "I'm stuck. How do I decide what to do next?"
Obstacle #2: "Customer research takes a ton of work. Too much work."
Obstacle #3: "If I fail to validate my idea, then I have to start over."
Obstacle #4: "It's weird to ask people for an interview."
Obstacle #5: "I already interviewed a few friends. And I lurked
on FB groups, subreddits, and Amazon reviews.
None of that helped."
I know these are big roadblocks because we've been sidetracked by ALL of these at one point or another.
But we also learned how to overcome each of them. In building our customer research toolbox, we had to figure out how to solve each of these obstacles. You can read all about it on the Greenlight Your Idea product page, about 1/3 of the way down.
Check it out.
