Hi Candidate,

I've written hundreds of emails over my years at IWT, but a few really stand out to me.

Some of them have earned millions of dollars.

Some of them were hilarious.

Duck, ugh

But when I was thinking of the most memorable ones, I'm proud of one email where I tell a reader not to purchase one of my courses — and I explained why.

Here's what happened. One of my Zero to Launch students emailed me asking if they should also join Call to Action, a comprehensive copywriting program we offer...

"Should I join another one of your courses?"

Think about it:

  • This is any company's dream.
  • A proven and happy customer, knocking on the door and asking to spend more money.

But I knew it wasn't the right time.

So I said no.

I could have made $1,497 by saying yes, but I didn't. The money isn't the primary thing I'm going for — it's our students' success.

Most sales advice out there is about how to squeeze a few more dollars out of your readers. It's no wonder most sales emails come across as spammy.

I want to turn that on its head.
