Candidate,
This week, I want to talk about productivity — something I bet a lot of us are struggling with right now.
(BTW, that's totally okay if you are. No one should be expected to optimize work performance, find the perfect bodyweight workout, and perfect a thousand new recipes with everything else going on.)
How many of you have set goals only to have them fall by the wayside?
The process typically looks like this:
- Week 1: "I'm going to learn a new language. This is awesome! I'm going to download every language learning app and buy all these books. It's going to be great."
- Week 2: "I studied pretty hard yesterday. There's nothing wrong with taking the day off to watch some Netflix."
- Week 3: "Eh, I guess I didn't really want to learn that language. Anyway, put on the next episode of Tiger King."
Rinse and repeat for new goals.
I get it: It's hard to focus when headlines practically scream, "YOU SHOULD CONSTANTLY WORRY ABOUT GETTING SICK! ALSO UNEMPLOYMENT! ALSO, THE ECONOMY IS IN THE TOILET!"
But there are great ways to stay productive even with all these distractions flying around. All you need are the right systems.
I can help. This week, I'll be answering some questions and sharing a few surprises along the way.
If you have questions about inner psychology, barriers that are holding you back, or why you genuinely want to do something but can't seem to actually follow through, this is your chance to ask.
Maybe you call yourself "lazy" when it comes to working out. Maybe you want to go to grad school, but haven't even bought the GMAT book. Or maybe you're fed up with reading blog after blog but never really doing anything.
Just reply to this email. I'll read every one and answer as many questions as I can.
