My god. The lives of influencers are even worse than I thought. Myself included.
Years ago, I suspected this might be the case — that all these influencers posting stuff might not actually be living lives as glamorous as they portrayed.
So in classic IWT style, I decided to take a different approach.
Phase 1: Discovering Instagram stories in Japan. First off, my IG account sucked. I didn't even post more than once every 4 months. Then, in 2017, I was on vacation in Japan, absolutely blown away by all the things I was seeing, and I started posting IG stories. I realized I loved storytelling on IG. And I wanted to get good at it.
Phase 2: "Wait, people buy stuff on Instagram?" About a year later, I was just starting to get comfortable. One day, I posted a random student success story and linked to the program.
It sold $10,000 in one day.
I was like —
WAIT. PEOPLE BUY STUFF ON INSTAGRAM???
Phase 3: Building a system. I realized this could become a core part of my business. For the last two years, I've been building my own style of posting my own fun stuff on Instagram...and also making it a part of my business. It's generated well over $500,000 in a single year since then.
I even integrated it with my travel. Last summer, I took a trip to Mexico and shared a video of the cool hotel I was at.
