Okay Candidate, let's roll up our sleeves and talk about how to build profitable email funnels.

To an outside observer, email funnels can look insanely complicated:

  • 20+ emails over multiple weeks!
  • Open & closed loops!
  • Tags! Triggers! Automated segmentation!

But what most people don't know is that almost every launch funnel is made up of the same 8 types of emails, just used in different ways.

It's kind of like a workout — there are literally hundreds of exercises out there, but most of them are built on the same few movements. Master those movements and BAM! … you've mastered hundreds of exercises.

Funnels are exactly the same.

Here are the essential 8:

  1. The Hook → How to grab the reader's attention
  2. The Tactic → How to give the reader incredible value
  3. The Pitch → How to start selling
  4. The Lift → How to keep the reader engaged
  5. The Proof → How to demonstrate you can deliver on your promise
  6. The Objection Killer → How to identify and overcome any concerns
  7. The Close → How to move the reader to action
  8. The Last Chance → How to make sure no one misses out

If you can just master these 8 emails, you have all the building blocks you need to create your first funnel … all the way up to a multimillion-dollar funnel. (Bonus points if you can tell which of the 8 this email is.)

So what is it about these emails that makes them work? What even makes a funnel "effective" anyway?

We've all heard of AIDA: Attention, Interest, Desire, and Action. It's an old sales framework that goes all the way back to the olden days of sales, but it still holds true today. And it's exactly what a funnel is designed to do.

Any good funnel captures someone's attention, gets them interested in whatever you're talking about, builds their desire for the product you're offering, and finally, moves them to take action.

This process works whether you're selling physical products, services (like a coaching package), charitable donations, or training (like e-books or online courses).

If we were to map each of our 8 emails onto this AIDA framework, we'd get something like this:

The Hook

  A

The Tactic

I

The Pitch

D

The Lift

D

The Proof

D

The Objection Killer

A

The Close

A

The Last Chance

A

Now obviously, there's nuance to this: Some emails might be a blend of interest and desire, and of course every email needs to catch your attention in some way. But at its core, this is basically how a sales funnel works.

Every email matters, and every email has a specific job to do. And if you learn how to get each of these emails right, you can craft almost any type of funnel you want.

I want to give you the keys to a million-dollar castle: my one-week Quick Launch Template. This funnel formula is one of my favorites. It's repeatable, easy-to-use, and has earned me millions.

I'll give you a few examples...

My one-week Mental Mastery launch that earned me $617,944 in 4 days — that used this Quick Launch Template.

My one-week Success Triggers launch that made $466,326 in 5 days — that used this Quick Launch Template.

When I launched my very niche Delegate and Done course — which teaches 6-figure business owners how to work with an assistant — I used this Quick Launch Template and made $223,773 in a week.

Best of all, none of those funnels included stressful webinars, complicated segmentation, paid ads, or retargeting. No overtime required. No headaches. No stress.

(BTW, my Quick Launch Template is actually just 1 of 3 launch templates we use here at IWT and GrowthLab. The Quick Launch is the first, simplest, and fastest of the bunch. We also use our Standard and Breakthrough Launch formulas, which have been worth even more. More on those soon…)

OK, so how does the Quick Launch Template work?

One of the biggest questions anyone faces when building a launch is: "What email should I send on which day?"

We've spent a LOT of time trying to figure this out. After years of testing dozens of different permutations, we discovered this formula:

The Quick Launch lasts only one week — Monday through Friday — and contains just 6 emails. It smoothly walks the reader through the sales process.

Even though this funnel is really short, notice how many "notes" we're hitting:

  • On Monday we grab their attention with "The Hook"
  • On Tuesday, we give them incredible value with "The Tactic"
  • On Wednesday, we introduce the product with "The Pitch"
  • On Thursday, we give a little bit more value with "The Lift"
  • On Friday morning, we directly ask for the sale with "The Close"
  • On Friday evening, we give a final reminder with "The Last Chance"

Clever readers will notice that we didn't use 2 of the emails from the essential 8 listed above: The Proof and The Objection Killer. That's OK! You don't always have to use every type of email in every funnel.

Could we have added those in?

Absolutely, and they'd have only made our funnel better. But with a Quick Launch, you can usually get away with not having a bunch of testimonials or proof points in your emails.

Here's an example of the Quick Launch in action…

We relaunched our Teach Yourself Anything course. This promotion went to existing subscribers who had already seen another funnel for this program and didn't buy. End result: This Quick Launch still netted us over $100,000:

I want to point out a couple things:

  • Notice how casual and non-salesy these subject lines are! The only subject line that even mentions a product is the very last one. And yet these 6 simple emails brought in over $100,000.
  • Even though it's short, the Quick Launch Template can be highly effective if you choose the right topics to write about
  • Hundreds of people read those emails and decided to join that course — even after they had said no before. And everyone else still got a week's worth of fun, interesting emails (instead of 48 obnoxious sales pitches like so many businesses send out). Win-win!

Keep in mind: You can always tweak these "formulas" for your own needs. But having a formula is better than making it up every time. (In fact, we often deviate from these ourselves! Next week I'll show you some of the nuances and more advanced techniques.)

But while our Quick Launch Template may look simple — don't let that fool you. Even at our level, we still LOVE doing Quick Launches. They're a fun, light, and highly profitable alternative to some of the more traditional styles of product launches. And because they're simple, you don't have to worry about burnout.

The Quick Launch Template totally changed my business.

Now it's your turn…

Tell me: What was the #1 thing you learned from this piece and how will you apply it to your business?

Be specific. The more specific you are, the more likely you'll be successful.

Just reply to this email and let me know.

P.S. Just a few days until we open our course on how to build a 7-figure launch machine. (Heads up, it's a big one.) Also some extra surprises coming next week, too. Stay tuned.
