Candidate,
For the last couple days, we've been talking about the power of having connections.
The #1 question I'm getting is: "What if I don't have the right relationships?"
My answer: GET THEM!!
Today's email is all about how.
What, you guys think there's some magic trick to getting the right relationships? Some magical door you walk through and suddenly everybody wants to respond to your emails?
There's not. Don't let anybody lie to you.
Now, I can help you make the right connections, which will help you get featured in the press. I even shared my top 50 word-for-word scripts (and tons more material) on how to do it. Use it, don't use it, I don't care.
But I'm going to show you HOW to build amazing connections in this email (and what happens when you do).
See, one of my biggest pet peeves is our culture's "go it alone" mentality.
We love stories about people heroically overcoming the odds and achieving greatness all by themselves:
- The bootstrapped startup founder ("I'll never take investors!")
- The determined gym rat ("I don't need some trainer to tell me what's in a book")
- The stressed-out parent ("I cooked all this on my own" / anyone who calls themselves "supermom")
I get it. Yes, it's impressive you did all that yourself. Who wouldn't be inspired?
But true "go it alone" success stories are rarer than we think. Even people who SAY they did it alone usually had plenty of assistance.
I'm no exception.
A lot of things people assume I did alone were only possible because of my network.
BTW, at first, I didn't know the first thing about "networking." Anyone I knew, I pretty much met by accident.
For example: I met persuasion master BJ Fogg as a student at Stanford. All I did was pay attention in class, ask questions, and keep in touch. Pretty basic.
But once I saw the power of knowing interesting, influential people, I started actively cultivating my network. Paying attention to how insanely well-connected people did it. Over the years, I made amazing friends who hooked me up in ways I never could've predicted.
Here are a few of "my" accomplishments that I never could've done alone:
- Becoming a New York Times bestselling author (I got introduced to one of the top book agents in the business and learned how publishing really works)
- Going on national TV 20+ times (publisher sent me to media training so I'd blow the networks away and get invited back)
- Getting over 1MM readers/mo for my site (all my initial traffic came from guest posts on blogs my friends ran)
Those relationships didn't materialize by accident. And they didn't happen overnight. But it's not as hard as you think.
Once you know the simple steps for connecting with people in an authentic way, you will be shocked at how eager they are to give you a hand. (And how much faster you accomplish your goals.)
I know what a game-changer it is to have powerful friends and allies, so I pulled out all the stops today.
Instead of sending you a video, or a blog post, I put together a special package of 3 IWT courses you can use to build your network.
If you want powerful connections with VIPs to get one-on-one mentorship, ongoing introductions, and "skip-the-line" access into the private world of unannounced jobs and unrivaled perks...you'll want to check this out.
It's called Advanced Connector's Package.
I usually open this just a few times a year to people who join our flagship courses. Today, it's open for you.
But only until Friday.
