What could be the ROI of domain selling business?
ROI is return over investment.
And there are 2 type of investments in the domain business.
- The cost of acquiring a domain
- The cost of your time
I am not sure how much is the cost of your time. If you are charging $100 per hour for your services (in your job or as a freelancer) then you may not get ROI through domain selling.
Keep making $800 per day by working 8 hours per day.
But if you have some free time ($0 per hour) then consider investing some money into domains for long term & short term profits.

But giving you a simple to understand overview of ROI in this email.
Let's say you keep a budget of $1000 to be invested in the domain business over 1 year with the aim of getting 10x ROI by making $10,000.
Fair enough goals?
You can adjust your goals based on how much you can invest and how much ROI you want.
More smartness & hardwork will get you more ROI.
For example, you can invest $500 and still make $10,000 (20x ROI) by investing in medium term high value domains (that can be sold between $3000 to $5000).
or you may be satisfied with 5x ROI by investing $1000 and making $5000 by investing in short term average value domains (that can be sold between $100 to $800 value)
It's wonderful having a dream of selling a single domain at $15,000 or 1 million dollar..
but be realistic (as per your skills)
For me, selling a domain like BitcoinBanker at $1000 is more profitable than selling a domain like ContentStack at $15,000 because I can sell multiple domain in the range of $1000 to $3000 in a year but I might have to wait for multiple years to sell a domain above $10,000.
At the end, it depends on your domain buying skills (not selling skills).
If you can buy right domains at the right price - you will end up making profits.
That's true for all kind of investments whether you invest in real estate, stock market, mutual funds or website business.
Buy right. Hold tight.
