This is your weekly segment of 5-Star Friday, a short list of the things I'm enjoying or pondering this week.
Please note: This will be the last 5-Star Friday for a while.
I will be going on an "internet fast" where I will not use the internet for anything other than business or necessity.
*What I'm watching 30 Days of Monk Mode Afterthoughts- This is the best review of Monk Mode that I have come across. In fact, I found it highly inspiring. Even though I wrote the program that this man followed, I felt like I was being introduced to Monk Mode for the first time while watching this review. He details how he was able to easily overcome his addiction to coffee, as well as how all compulsions and obsessions just vanished on their own. Great video and also a good YouTube channel that you can enjoy in the absence of 5-Star Friday.
*Podcast I'm listening to The Higherside Chats - The Thai Occult, Spirits, Leklai, & The Ajarns - This is one of the better podcasts I listen to. The host always has a wide range of interesting guests and is open to learning what the guests have to teach. In this episode he has a man on who speaks about Thai magic. If you've ever spent any time in Thailand you will know one thing for sure, Thailand is a magical place. This episode was really informative and enlightened me about many things I experienced in Thailand. Fun episode and fun podcast in general.
*Exercises I'm doing Pushups and squats in the park - Every day I go to the park and I exercise outdoors for one hour (unless it's raining). This is the best thing I've started doing. I get to spend time outdoors, I get to hear the birds singing, I get to have the sun shining on my face, I get a great workout in, and if I feel like it I can listen to a podcast while I do it. I highly recommend that if you are not a slave to a job that you get out of the gym (or house) and go do exercise outdoors. It's remarkable how great you feel afterwards. After my workout I sit down on a bench or under a tree and I relax. Sometimes I read a book or finish a podcast.
*What I'm reading The Tao Te Ching (Stephen Mitchell Translation) - The Tao Te Ching is an ancient Chinese book of incredible wisdom. Written by an unknown man called Lao Tzu. I've been inspired by it for years because it's the most perfect piece of wisdom I have ever come across. In fact, it's the only physical book that I travel with at all times. The wisdom inside the pages is perfect, obvious, precise, and, more importantly, true. Even though it seems paradoxical, it makes perfect sense. Like the book says, "True words seem paradoxical." I can read the words and I know that they are true instantly. There isn't a shred of doubt in my mind, heart, or soul unlike with other "spiritual" books. Be sure to get the Stephen Mitchell translation because it's the best. Then go to the park and read it outside while sitting underneath a tree. It's very short and can be read in an hour or less.
*Quote I'm pondering "True words aren't eloquent. Eloquent words aren't true. Wise men don't need to prove their point; Men who need to prove their point aren't wise." -Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching
