I am resuming VIP Newsletters after a break of almost one month. Now I will continue sending VIP Newsletter to Inner Circle members every Friday.

In the last newsletter, dated 21st Sep, I shared the difference between Agency business and Affiliate business. I am trying to make the balance between our services & own assets.

There is another confusion among people - Difference between 30 Days Blogging Success Course and A2Z Affiliate Marketing Course.

If you understand the difference between an Authority blog and Affiliate blog then you can figure out the answer.

The most easiest way to understand the difference is
- Affiliate blogs are meant to sell when they grow up to a point.
- Authority blogs are not meant to sell.

Authority blog can also be an affiliate blog but all Affiliate Blogs does not have authority.

We have a couple of affiliate blogs and we don't even disclose the names. No one knows about them except the visitors who come from a Google search query. Those users don't care about the author. They read the blog, click on an affiliate link and make the purchase.

It's hard to convert them into email subscribers. Their needs are short term. They are in hurry to find the "best wifi router for home" and they don't worry about signing up your email newsletter.

We tried that by creating a separate subdomain moneyhacks on cashoverflow. The conversion stats of email signups are not as exciting as the main CashOverflow website. The answer is simple - people signup on the authority blogs as compared to random affiliate blog.

Affiliate blogs are easy to build and grow. But affiliate blogs have a short lifespan. A simple change in the Google algorithm can flip the revenues upside down.

Summary for Affiliate Blogs
  • Easy to start
  • Easy to write content (15 to 20 articles in phase 1)
  • Easy to grow the traffic (Greyhat SEO)
  • Risk of relying on single traffic source
  • Risk of relying on a single revenue stream
However, Authority blogs are the hard nut to crack. You can't grow the authority blog based on content writing alone. You need to do 10 other activities to establish your authority.

The benefit of an authority blog is having traffic from multiple sources. Creating a community around your work. Having an engaging email list -> that result into multiple sources of revenue as well.

Revenue from Affiliate marketing is one the revenue stream for an Authority Blog.
An authority blog would survive even if Google stops sending free traffic.

The execution steps are hard for an authority blog. That's what I are going to share in '30 Days Blogging Challenge' - the exact steps that I would follow to establish TheNicheBlogger as an authority blog in the most competitive industry (Internet Marketing).

I could not complete a couple of lessons last time

That I would do this time.

I am sure there would be learning for anyone who wants to see the success with blogging. No matter if you are starting fresh, failed with blogging in the past or running a 2-3 year old blog.

Even I am a learner. I am improving my writing and storytelling skills. This month I would try to learn new skills for social media growth, apply on my brand new blog and share the steps with you.

Summary for Authority Blogs
  • Easy to start
  • Hard to establish authority
  • Need multi skills (social media, video, graphics, network) not just writing
  • Storytelling skills along with writing
  • Multiple sources of traffic
  • Multiple sources of revenue
  • Long term success
By this time, you might have understood that the best is to create a blog with Authority+Affiliate.

If you start your blog with '30 Days Blogging Challenge' and then apply the techniques of 'A2Z Affiliate Marketing Course' then you would have what you need to get long term success.

I would give priority to complete 30 days blogging course this month.. and then add new lessons to A2Z Course.
