Hi Candidate

This is 5th day of the course. Here are some tips to avoid common pitfalls of the blogging business.

#1. Design, Logo, and Themes
It really does not matter.

Branding is something that you should focus when your business starts running. First of all, start earning at least $100 per month.

Lots of people (including me) spent hours in fixing the layout of articles. If you have zero traffic on your website then who's gonna care about those layouts?

I spent many hours in finding a perfect theme for my website and always confused between a free or paid theme.

There is no perfect decision. I change my website theme every year and it does not impact any of my existing work.

So chill. Pick any free theme to start with. If you have a budget then buy super fast GeneratePress theme in just $39.95 else free theme is good enough.

Important thing is that your time is more important. Save your time and invest in the right things.

#2. Perfect Content

Your content should be awesome but that does not mean you spend months in writing content without publishing a single article.

Content writing is all about practicing and improving with feedback from readers. It's okay to publish not-so-awesome articles in the initial days.

This is the process & flow.
Article Idea -> Basic Storyline Structure -> First Draft -> Research & Improvement -> Final Editing -> Publish

In my initial days, this entire process was taking about 8 hours. So you should be able to publish your article in max 2 days.

Don't wait for the perfect content. Hit publish and keep improving.

#3. Money

That won't happen soon. It's like getting admission in Nursery class and expecting a job next month.

Learn the basic skills first. You started your blog for learning, right?

Publish 10 articles and then compare your first article with your 10th. You will see how much you learned in those 20 days.

#4. Bad Writing Skills

Don't ask me again. Your writing will improve with practice.

Even I am from Hindi medium and I was average in English. The grammar is not the biggest obstacle for you. Anyone can learn that with practice.

Use tools like Grammarly that will correct your grammar mistakes. Don't be dependent on the tools otherwise, you won't be able to improve your English.

And the real value is not in the English literature writing.. Your readers would find value in whatever help you provide through your articles.

So focus on value delivery without worrying about your English skills.

Interesting Practice: Copy paste my email content in Grammarly and see how many grammar mistakes you found. Still, I was able to convey my message to you.

#5. Investment

I am from a Baniya family and I feel proud to be Kanjoos. We don't waste money on the things that we don't really need.

I still have a cheap Android phone from Coolpad and my last phone was Mi Xiomi. I don't waste money on clothes and gadgets. I save money using credit cards and other tricks on shopping & travel.

But when it comes to Business, we Baniyas think in terms of ROI (Return On Investment).

Spending $200 on setting up your business is not equal to buying a $200 phone. The worth of your phone will be $50 after one year and the worth of your business would be $2000 after one year.

Money is one type of investment that you should consider putting in your business (just in buying good hosting, theme and best tools).

Time is the second type of investment you should do in your business.

Remember, Money = Time and Time = Money.
If you have money then save your precious time. If you have extra time but no money, then save money first and utilize your time in finding free resources for everything.
